The snow piled up outside his window is a mysterious and, frankly, chilly surprise! A girl, his new neighbor, does not speak his language, but that does not stop them from communicating as the girl helps the boy overcome his fears. The two new friends get bundled up against the cold, and the boy discovers the magic of playing outside on a snow day.

この絵本は文字が一切ないが、生き生きとしたイラストが多くの言葉を語っている。少年は新しい国に着いたばかりであった。窓の外に見える積もった雪は観たことがない不思議な世界で、驚くほどの寒さだった。隣に住む少女は彼の言葉が解らなかったが、その少女が少年の恐怖心を取り除き、互いに問題なくコミュニケーション出来た。二人の友情は寒さにめげず強まり、少年は雪の日に外で遊ぶ楽しさを満喫できた。
