Just before Father’s Day, all class students come to school with their dads, and they present a copy of the book to each father.  >>> The same creators issued “Mother’s Day” as well.

父の日の為に、ミセス・マドッフのクラスの生徒達は、自分の父親のことを文章とイラストにして、それをまとめた本を作った。父の日の前に、クラスメート達が自分の父親と一緒にクラスに来て一人ひとりがその特別な本をプレゼントされた。同じ制作者達によって’母の日’の絵本も出版されている。

One morning in the school bus, Tommy brings his pet hamster for show-and-tell and his hamster escapes form his cage. The hamster leads school students in a hide-and-seek romp through the busload of rowdy diversity kids.

ある朝トミーは、学校の話の時間に皆に見せる為、ペットのハムスターをスクールバスに持ち込んだ。ところがそのハムスターが籠の中から逃げ出し、バスの中はカクレンボをするハムスターを追いかける賑やかな声で溢れた。多様性溢れる生徒達のはしゃぎ様が、楽しく伝わってくる絵本。

多様なる人種が住む町の学校が始まった。学校に行く最初の日の町の子供たちの様子が描かれている。学校の始業日を生徒、家族、コミュニティー全員で祝う習慣は、１９９７年にSouthwest Vermont Supervisory Union　にある１１の学校で行われたのが切っ掛けとなり、First Day Foundationが設立され、全米にこの祝い行事は広まった。
