Sadie and Ori and the Blue Blanket

When Sadie was born in a Jewish family, her grandma knits soft blue “Together Blanket”. They use it for building forts, for snuggling and fun. As Sadie and Ori, young brother of Sadie, grow up and as grandma gets older, the blanket continues to bring the family comfort in very special ways.

ユダヤ系の家族にサディーが生まれた時、お祖母さんがブルーの柔らかな毛糸で、一緒にいられるブランケットを編んでくれた。このブランケットは、砦を築いたり、昼寝をしたりと大いに役立った。サディーや弟のオリが成長すると共に、お祖母さんは年をとっていったが、このブランケットは家族に心地良さを変わらずに提供してくれた。

Beautiful Bananas

Beatrice, a young African girl, sets out to take a gift of banana to her grandfather. Along the way, Beatrice encounters some animals and each one causes an accident to lose her gift to grandfather. Then the animal replaces the lost stuff with a new one, and the result is that Batrice gets a beautiful bunch of banana as same as the first one she had.

アフリカの少女ベアトリスは、お祖父さんへプレゼントのバナナの房を届けるために出かけた。途中で出会った動物達の不注意からプレゼントを失う度に、動物は代わりの品物を見つけてくれた。結局最後には、最初と同じバナナの房をベアトリスは手に入れることが出来た。

On the Farm, at the Market

On the farms, each workers prepare own products for the market. At the market the next day, the workers set up their stand for shoppers to arrive. Amy, the baker at the Café, picks all good stuff at the market for her special meal of the night. After closed market, all the farmers come to Amy’s café to enjoy the result of their hard work. This informative picture book introduce both local and urban greenmarket to learn interconnected community.

農場で働く人達は、それぞれの産物をマーケットに出す準備をした。翌日のマーケットでは、スタンドが並び、商品が陳列された。キャフェのエミーは、その夜の特別メニューの為にマーケットで品選びをした。マーケットが終えた後エミーのキャフェに集った農場の人達は、自分達の生産物の成果を味わって満喫した。生産者と消費者が共存するコミュニティーの強い結びつきを、紹介している絵本である。

３人の少年と３人の少女は、毎朝学校へ行くのに急勾配の丘を幾つも越えてゆく。６人は日の出と共に走りだすのだが、丘だけでなく平野を横切り街中を通過して、学校の開始に間に合うように走り続ける。詩的な言葉とハイチの民族色あるれる色彩の絵が、学ぶ幸せを上手に表現している。

Bus Stop, bus go!
