タイトルにSushiとなっているので、表紙にも平仮名のすしが、模様のようにあしらわれている。ところが寿司だけではなく、ページ毎に世界各国の伝統的な食べ物が紹介されて、タイトルのSushiの変わりにその食べ物の名前に変わる。お茶目で愉快なイラストを見ながら、食べ物で世界旅行が出来てしまうユニークな絵本であり、テーマは母と娘の愛情である。
