Daisy has a big sister and a little brother, so she is in the middle. She feels her parents, big sister and little brother always forget about her and frustrated with loneliness. However Daisy finds a girl with family moved to the next door, and she becomes a friend with the girl. Now Daisy’s lonely life starts to change.

絵本作家もイラストレーターもニューヨークに住み、児童絵本を何冊も手がけたベテランである。３人の子どもと両親の５人家族の黒人一家が登場。その家族の中で、姉と弟に挟まれた次女のデイジーは、いつも皆から無視されているような寂しさと不満があったが、、、隣に友達が来てから、デイジーの周辺が変わりだす。デイジーの友人は異なる人種だが、それは大きな問題ではない。こういうさりげない異人種の扱い方が、ニューヨークの魅力とも言えそうだ。
