Longtime ago in China, a young emperor announced all children in his kingdom to show him the greatest power in the world. The young emperor believed in “To know the greatest power in the world is to know the greatest peace.” and informed ” whoever knows this harmony will become the prime minister.”  Several children suggest the answers as Military, Beauty, Technology, Money……………but a girl thought deeply by the lotus pond.

昔、中国に幼い皇帝がいた。彼は、国を治めるにあたり、「世の中の最も強い力を知っている人こそ、最も確かな平和を築けれる人だろう」と考え、国中の子ども達を集めて、おふれを出した。「最も強い力を証明できた人を首相にする」と。子ども達は夫々に考えて、軍隊、美貌、技術、お金、、、しかし一人の女の子は、蓮の池で考えた。内容もイラストも、充分に絵本の醍醐味を満喫出来る。多くの賞を受賞している絵本作家DEMIの作品の一つ。
