Abu Raed is an aging airport janitor who has always yearned of seeing the world but never has any chance. One day Abu Read finds a captain hat in a trash can of the airport, and brings it to home to put on his head. A group of children in his poor neighborhood believe Abu Read is a pilot and ask him to tell his world traveling stories. Abu’s imaginary tales fascinate them, and their warm friendship begins.

ヨルダンの首都アンマンにある富めるカルチャーと貧困のカルチャーが、見事に描かれている。空港の掃除夫である主人公 が、たまたまゴミ箱に捨てられていたキャプテンの帽子を見つけて持ち帰る。立て込んだ貧困層の住宅街に一人住む主人公の老人は、キャプテンの帽子によっ て、周囲の子ども達と関わりを持つようになる。ハッピーエンドに終わらない結末ゆえに世界に広がる格差社会の切なさを語っているが、それにめげないメッ セージが込められている。
