Human Interconnection Projects (HIP) Children’s picture books in the SHI collection are waiting for you to start your own project. With these books, design your project to meet the needs of your targeted audience within your community or even for yourself.

A Recommendation—Human Interconnection Corner as an project idea.

We recommend setting up your own Human Interconnection Corner (HIC) by selecting at least 10 children’s picture books from the SHI collection. You can visit the children’s picture books’ categories to select your books. Then create a nice comfortable corner for people to enjoy these books. These corners could be located at home, office, café, lobby, or any location that allows a book shelf that could hold at least 10 books.

Three Pillars of HIP

One: Intergenerational connection    ● Welcome senior volunteers to read aloud at children’s gathering or at youth events.   ● Encourage children to read more from the Category B-3 that bridge generational gaps.    ● Encourage gifting children picture books across all ages.

Two: Interbeing connection ● Utilize children’s picture books to understand the interconnection within different lifestyle, tradition, foods, fashion, faith, and physical / mental diversities. ● Help realize the oneness of humanity through the commonality and positive ripple effect of human experience. ● Encourage libraries and librarians to establish Human Interconnection Corner.

Three: Interactive connection    ● Encourage the publishers of children’s picture books to produce more STEAM books with emphasis on human interconnection, and offer incentive for participation.   ● Expand the network with other like-minded or like-hearted groups/organizations.
