Soraya leaves from Brooklyn, New York, to live in her homeland, Israel. In her family history, her grandfather exiled from Jaffa to Lebanon since the country Israel was established in 1948, and lived in Palestinian refugee camp where Soraya’s parents were born. They moved to America and Soraya is born and grows up in America. Despite facing political barricades, Soraya wants to get  her identity in her new life. >>> The director, Annemarie Jacir is a Palestinian-American, and this is her first fiction feature.

ニューヨークのブルックリンで生まれ育ったアメリカ国籍の女性ソラヤが、一人イスラエルの空港に降り立つ。ソラヤの祖父は 1948年以前に、現在のイスラエル領下にあるヤファに住んでいたが、イスラエル建国によってレバノンに逃れた。ソラヤの両親は、レバノンのパレスチナ難民キャンプで生まれ米国へ渡った。それ故ソラヤは、イスラエルの入国管理の係官に厳しく調べられた。父が亡くなり、まだ見ぬ故郷にやって来たソラヤのアイデンティティー探しの旅は、決して楽しいものではなかったが、政治の非情に知恵で立ち向かう若者達の明るさが印象的である。
